Board of Directors and Vice President of the Shay Emma Hammer Research Foundation (SEHRF)
Shay Emma Hammer (‘Shay-Shay’) was disabled in many ways yet managed to touch so many who knew her. During her short 15 years of life, she bravely fought a daily battle with an unknown form of epilepsy. Now, because of Shay, families around the world with a child that is affected by an SCN8A- related disorder are connected to each other. While she was alive Shay inspired her family and caregivers, and because of her, families, clinicians, and researchers now know so much more about this devastating brain disease.

REAF Gala 30 Anniversary
As a member of the REAF Board of Directors, I am honored to be part of the 30th anniversary of the REAF Gala. This milestone event marks three decades of impactful work and collective effort in supporting our community.
The Gala is a wonderful occasion to celebrate the progress we’ve made, acknowledge the dedication of all involved, and set our sights on future goals. It’s a testament to the strength and commitment of everyone who has been part of this journey.

I value the chance to be involved in an organization that truly makes a difference. As we celebrate this significant anniversary, I am reminded of the many people who have supported us along the way. My commitment is to continue working toward our shared goals, guided by the principles that have driven REAF from the start. It is a privilege to be part of this journey and to contribute to the ongoing efforts to create positive change.
